Genetics loads the gun. Environment pulls the trigger.

Every other test you will ever do measures a moment. Your bloods reflect the last few weeks. Your hormones move across the month and across the decade. Your DNA is the one thing that does not move, and it is the only test you will never have to repeat.

A gene variant is not a verdict. It is a tendency. If you carry a slow COMT, you clear stress hormones and oestrogen slowly, so high-intensity stress, late caffeine and certain supplements affect you more than the person next to you. If your FADS variants reduce your conversion of plant omega-3s, flaxseed will never do the job that oily fish does. If your vitamin D pathway is compromised, "normal" blood levels are not enough for you.

None of this shows up on a standard blood panel. All of it shapes how you feel every day, and all of it is workable once you know. If you only ever do one test, do this one.

92 genes. 113 variants. Eight systems.

  1. Digestion — Lactose, gluten and histamine handling, B12 absorption, iron metabolism, and how your gut actually responds to what you eat.
  2. Energy — Mitochondrial function, nutrient conversion, and the variants behind flat afternoons and slow recovery.
  3. Hormones — How you make, use and clear oestrogen, testosterone and thyroid hormone, and how you respond to oral contraceptives and HRT.
  4. Stress and cognitive performance — COMT, MAO-A, BDNF and the dopamine and serotonin pathways. How you handle pressure, focus, motivation and mood.
  5. Inflammation and longevity — Your inflammatory set-point, antioxidant defences, and the levers that turn inflammation down.
  6. Athletic performance — Power versus endurance bias, response to strength training, recovery speed and injury tendency.
  7. DNA protection and repair — Repair capacity and the nutrients your particular repair pathways depend on.
  8. Detoxification — Phase I and II liver pathways, glutathione and superoxide dismutase capacity, and your sensitivity to specific environmental exposures.

Your APOE status is included. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are not tested. This is a wellness and nutrigenomics report, not a disease-risk screen.

121 pages, and a practitioner who builds a programme out of them

Your myDNA Comprehensive Health Report runs to roughly 121 pages: a walk-through of all eight systems with your genotype for every variant, a strengths summary, a weaknesses summary with the epigenetic levers that can change the outcome, a personalised DNA-based grocery list generated from your variants, and a clinical research summary drawn from over 1,000 peer-reviewed sources. You also keep your raw data file of over 650,000 SNPs.

Any practitioner can order this test. Most will hand you the report and talk you through the highlights. That is not what this is.

Alongside your report I run a full Cell Blueprint assessment and take your history, your symptoms, what you are already taking and what you are actually trying to achieve. Then I build one programme out of all of it: the eating pattern, the specific nutrients and doses, the training and recovery approach, the sleep and stress structure, and the supplements that fit your variants, including the popular ones you should not be taking. Everything is prioritised in the order you should tackle it, with suggested follow-up testing where a finding warrants confirming.

A variant tells you a tendency, not whether that tendency is currently costing you anything. A slow methylator who feels well needs a different programme from a slow methylator running on empty, and the 121 pages cannot tell you which one you are. After more than a decade in genetics and epigenetics and fifteen years in functional health, what you are buying is judgement about which of your 113 variants deserve your attention this year, and what to do about them.

Four steps to your blueprint

  1. Order. Your collection kit is posted to your home address anywhere in New Zealand within 24 hours.
  2. Swab. No fasting, no preparation. First thing in the morning, before you eat, drink, brush or floss, take two easy cheek swabs at home. Drop the prepaid courier pack at any NZ Post depot the same day.
  3. Analysis. Your sample is analysed by NutriPATH at a CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified laboratory. Results reach me in roughly 10 to 15 working days from arrival. Start to finish, allow around four to five weeks.
  4. Assess and consult. I work through your report alongside your Cell Blueprint assessment and build your programme. Then we sit down for 90 minutes and go through all of it. You leave with a document you will use for the rest of your life.
