Oestrogen dominance is one of the most underdiagnosed hormonal patterns I see in clinical practice — and one of the most common. It's not that oestrogen itself is the problem. Oestrogen is essential. The problem is when it's not being cleared properly, and it accumulates relative to progesterone. The result is a cascade that most women recognise instantly: heavy painful periods, breast tenderness, water retention, stubborn weight around the hips and thighs, PMS mood swings, premenstrual headaches, brain fog, and fatigue that sleep doesn't fix. Men aren't exempt either — oestrogen dominance in men shows up as visceral fat, gynecomastia, low energy, and reduced drive.

The modern world makes this worse. Xenoestrogens from plastics, pesticides, personal care products, and environmental pollutants mimic oestrogen in the body and add to the total load. Chronic stress drives cortisol production at the expense of progesterone (the "progesterone steal"), shifting the oestrogen-to-progesterone ratio further out of balance. And if your liver's Phase I and Phase II detoxification pathways aren't running efficiently — which they're often not in a nutrient-depleted, high-stress, high-toxin environment — excess oestrogen recirculates instead of being cleared.

This is where BePure EstroClear comes in. It's formulated specifically to upregulate liver detoxification and support the clearance of excess oestrogen through six targeted ingredients that work on different parts of the pathway.

HOW THE INGREDIENTS WORK

DIM (3,3'-Diindolylmethane) — 100mg: DIM is a metabolite of indole-3-carbinol, naturally found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and kale. It shifts oestrogen metabolism toward the protective 2-hydroxyoestrone pathway and away from the more proliferative 16-alpha-hydroxyoestrone pathway. In practical terms, DIM helps your body process oestrogen into its safer metabolites. It also upregulates Phase I liver enzymes involved in oestrogen detoxification.

Organic Broccoli Sprout Powder — 100mg: Broccoli sprouts are one of the richest natural sources of sulforaphane, a potent activator of the NRF2 pathway and Phase II liver detoxification enzymes. Sulforaphane supports glucuronidation and glutathione conjugation — the exact pathways your liver uses to package oestrogen metabolites for excretion. Young sprouts contain significantly higher concentrations of sulforaphane precursors than mature broccoli.

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) — 500mg: MSM is a bioavailable sulphur donor. Sulphur is critical for Phase II detoxification — specifically sulphation, one of the key conjugation pathways for clearing oestrogen. MSM also supports glutathione production, reduces inflammation, and supports connective tissue and joint health. At 500mg per serve, this is a meaningful dose.

Organic Rosemary Leaf — 250mg: Rosemary contains carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, which support liver detoxification and have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Rosemary also modulates CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 enzyme activity in the liver — both of which are involved in oestrogen metabolism. The organic whole-leaf form preserves the full spectrum of active compounds.

Turmeric Root 4:1 Extract — 250mg: Turmeric's active compound curcumin is a potent anti-inflammatory that also supports Phase II liver detoxification, specifically glucuronidation. The 4:1 extract means 250mg delivers the equivalent of 1,000mg of whole turmeric root. Curcumin also modulates NF-kB signalling, which is relevant because chronic inflammation and oestrogen dominance tend to feed each other in a vicious cycle.

L-Taurine — 150mg: Taurine is an amino acid that supports bile acid conjugation in the liver. Bile is one of the primary routes through which conjugated oestrogen metabolites are excreted via the gut. Without adequate bile flow, cleared oestrogen can be reabsorbed through enterohepatic recirculation — essentially recycling the oestrogen you're trying to get rid of. Taurine supports that exit pathway.

DIRECTIONS

Take 2 capsules daily with food. If this is your first time taking EstroClear, start with 1 capsule per day and increase slowly — the detoxification upregulation can cause temporary symptoms (headache, changes in bowel habits, skin breakouts) as your body starts clearing stored oestrogen. This is normal and typically resolves within the first week or two.

BePure recommends taking EstroClear for 3-6 months at a time for best results.

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Not suitable while taking Warfarin or other anticoagulants. If you're on the oral contraceptive pill, check with your prescriber before starting — EstroClear upregulates the same liver pathways that metabolise synthetic oestrogens. Suitable for ages 18+.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Women experiencing PMS, heavy periods, menstrual cramping, breast tenderness, water retention, hormonal headaches, mood swings, hormonal acne, or stubborn weight gain around hips and thighs. Men experiencing oestrogen-related symptoms including gynecomastia, visceral fat accumulation, and low energy. Anyone with a high xenoestrogen exposure load (environmental, occupational, dietary) who wants to support oestrogen clearance proactively.

WHY I STOCK IT

Oestrogen dominance is something I work with constantly in my clinical practice, and it's one of the most responsive patterns to targeted nutritional intervention. EstroClear addresses the liver detoxification side of the equation — which is critical, because you can't balance oestrogen if you can't clear it. I pair it with Re:juvenate Pro for the inflammatory component (oestrogen dominance and chronic inflammation almost always coexist), and with BePure Three for omega-3 anti-inflammatory support and hormonal health. For the full picture on hormones, perimenopause, and what's actually driving the symptoms most women are told to just live with, listen to the Pushing the Limits podcast — I've done deep-dive episodes on progesterone, oestrogen metabolism, and the hormone-gut connection.
